All About Me

Hello there, and welcome to my blog!  My name is Anastasia Hanneken and I have been a school librarian since 1998.  I am passionate about information literacy and technology, the library makerspace movement, and children's and young adult literature.

I received my Bachelor's in Education and certification in Library Science in 1998 from Kutztown University.  In 2005, I received my Master's in Library Science from Kutztown University.  Currently I am working on a second Master's degree in Instructional Technology from St. Joseph's University.

My first position was with Bristol Borough School District, where I worked as a K-6 Librarian.  During that time, I was very involved with adding the Accelerated Reader program to our school, fully automating the library collection, and using innovative technologies to incorporate into instruction.

After an eight year hiatus from librarianship to stay home with my children, I accepted  a  position with School Lane Charter School.  For two years I ran their K-8 school library. This school year, I was asked to move up to run their new 7-12 grade school.  During this time, I worked to bring School Lane into the 21st century through a dynamic virtual library website, creating a STEM Makerspace environment in both schools, adding the newest research related technologies, and working with students and teachers to implement information literacy and technology skills into their curriculum.

December of 2016, I accepted a position in Shamong, New Jersey as their middle school librarian at Indian Mills Memorial Middle School.  The position is my dream job and allows me to work as a librarian and technology trainer.

In addition to my position, I am an active member of NJASL, ALA, ISTE, Mackin TYSL and Follett's Future Ready Librarians..   This March I will present a workshop at PSLA on my top 25 Tech Tools.
